In breve

  • L'app funziona offline: niente account, pubblicità o tracciamenti.

Come vengono inviati e conservati

Perché (finalità)

Base giuridica

Il tuo consenso (art. 6.1.a GDPR e art.

6.1.f). Non scrivere dati personali nel commento.

5. Menu Scanner (solo versione PRO)

9. I tuoi diritti

Puoi chiedere accesso, rettifica, cancellazione, limitazione, portabilità e opporti al trattamento (artt. 15-22 GDPR), e revocare il consenso in qualsiasi momento. Scrivi a [email protected]: rispondiamo entro 30 giorni.

Versione precedente: 1.0 (ottobre 2026).

Privacy policy

Provisional version, under review (the app is not yet available in the stores) · Version 1.2 · 20 October 2026 · under Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003

In short

  • The app works offline: no account, no ads, no tracking.
  • If you agree, while you use it we occasionally save your approximate location (about 100 m), without your name or phone IDs.
  • This powers the Crowd Map and anonymous tourism statistics, shared with public bodies and companies, including for commercial purposes.
  • It's optional and you can change your mind at any time.

Why is the Crowd Map in PRO? Servers and fresh data cost money: a pass for the price of a coffee keeps the map alive and the rest of the app free. PRO does not depend on your consent.

1. Data controller

Privacy contact: [email protected].

2. What stays only on your phone (we never receive it)

This data is not sent to anyone, is not automatically backed up to the phone's cloud, and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

3. Crowd map (only with your consent)

Which data

While you use the app, and only if you have already granted location permission, about every 2 minutes the app saves a point made of:

We do not store name, email, phone number, device identifiers, advertising IDs or routes: the same square in the same hour is counted only once. Location is never collected when the app is closed or in the background. Points outside the Venice area are discarded.

How it is sent and stored

Why (purposes)

  1. Crowd Map: building the crowd map and the crowded-area alerts that PRO users see in the app (see below).
  2. For the app: understanding how to improve features and content.
  3. For Venice and to keep the app sustainable: producing statistics on tourist flows which, only in anonymous and aggregated form, may be shared or transferred, including under commercial agreements, to public bodies, universities and research centres, tourism and transport operators, companies and analytics firms. This helps keep the app free.

Crowd Map and alerts (PRO version)

PRO users see in the app a map of the most crowded areas (right now and by time of day) and can receive alerts when they approach a crowded area, with a quieter alternative. The feature is paid because it requires servers and constant updates, which cost money.

Legal basis

Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Art. 122 of Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 for access to the device location), given with the "I agree and help Venice" button. Declining has no consequence: all app features remain available. Consent and buying PRO are independent: you do not need to consent to buy PRO and use the Crowd Map, and you do not need PRO to consent.

Withdrawal

You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Privacy and data. Collection stops immediately and points not yet sent are deleted from the phone. Counts already aggregated on the server are anonymous: those derived from your points cannot be identified and therefore cannot be deleted individually.

4. Venue ratings (optional)

If you rate a venue, we send anonymously: venue, stars, chosen tags, optional short comment, language and date. No name, email, device code or location. The comment is read only by our staff and never published. Legal basis: your request to submit the rating (Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in keeping recommendations reliable (Art. 6(1)(f)). Do not write personal data in the comment.

5. Menu Scanner (PRO only)

When you take or choose a photo of a menu, it is sent to our server and to an AI service (Google Gemini, paid tier: photos are not used to train models) only to analyse prices. The photo is not stored by us or in the app. To enforce usage limits we use a random pass code, not linked to your identity, and counters deleted after 2 days. Legal basis: performance of the requested service (Art. 6(1)(b)). Do not photograph people or documents.

6. Purchases (PRO)

Payment is handled entirely by Google Play or the App Store under their privacy policies. We only receive confirmation of the purchase and its duration, never payment details.

7. External links and third-party services

Where data is processed outside the EU (e.g. in the United States), transfers rely on GDPR safeguards: adequacy decision (EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Recipients of the anonymous, aggregated statistics (section 3) receive no personal data.

9. Your rights

You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and object to processing (Art. 15-22 GDPR), and withdraw consent at any time. Write to [email protected]: we reply within 30 days. As we do not collect data that identifies you, we may be unable to find data relating to you: in practice, personal data stays on your phone under your control.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority, Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (www.garanteprivacy.it), or your local authority.

10. Children

The app is not aimed at children under 14. Below this age, consent to the crowd map must be given by the holder of parental responsibility.

11. Security

Encrypted connections (https), no identifying data collected, immediate aggregation on the server, request limits, access keys stored separately from the code, request logs disabled.

12. Changes

If we change this policy in a significant way, the app will show it again and ask for new consent. Previous version: 1.0 (October 2026).
